Qualification Races in Zuoz

In Zuoz four qualifying races for both men and ladies in the technical disciplines will take place. Around 150 athletes from more than 70 Nations compete in the exciting races at the "The Small Nations World Championships" - entrance is free.

As part of the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships 2017 4 qualifying races on the Pizzet run at Zuoz will take place. 1 Giant Slalom men and ladies and 1 Slalom men and ladies. A total of 100 Start places for the main respective races from the Ski World Championships in the technical disciplines will be obtainable.

Qualification Mode
The best 50 athletes will go through directly to the main races. All the athletes  competing in the qualifying races that Rank 1-25 go through to the main races. A further 25 Start places can be won from the Nations, those athletes that did not qualify within the first 75 will be considered on the basis of their FIS points. In the Slalom – and the Giant Slalom – The main races of the World Championships at Corviglia – Thus, There will be 100 Athletes competing.

The World Championships Small Nations
In the technical disciplines a 150 athletes both male and female from almost certainly more than 70 Nations are expected. This number of participants prevents a long and timely process, which is why these qualifying races are of such great importance. On the evening of the races at 6pm the 6 best athletes from the respective races will have a Presentation at the Kulm Park in St. Moritz.

Free Entrance and Free Parking
The ski races promise to be an exciting and attractive sporting event, some very strong athletes will be fighting for their positions, those of which are not ranked in the front of the World Ranking List can take a shot at the big time. The steep slope at Pizzet will demand the utmost from all the competitors. The leading World-Cup teams also use this mountain as a training run. The races are at a European Cup level and it will be recorded on television. Catering and Entertainment will be provided with loud speakers and good music. The standing room on the Grandstand is free.

You can travel to Zuoz comfortably by train or bus. A shuttle bus will take  you from the train station to the bottom of the Chastlatsch  Chairlift station. The spectators car park is directly at the bottom station of the Chastlatsch chairlift. Overflow parking can be found at the Zuoz train station and in the nearby  Resgia area. From the train station carpark and nearby Resgia carparks, a shuttle bus will take you to the bottom station of the Chastlatsch chairlift.
