All competitions of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships St. Moritz 2017 take place on the St. Moritz home mountain Corviglia. The spectators will be able to watch the world’s top athletes along the entire course from start to finish.
The legendary “free fall” start of the men’s downhill is the absolute highlight: the athletes enter the course directly on a gradient of 100 percent or 45 degrees, accelerating to 140 km/h in 6 seconds. Inspired by the “free fall” and starting from their position, “Britannia”, the women also reach top speeds within seconds. The "Britannia" is also on the slopes of Piz Nair.
As befits St. Moritz, spectators can watch the world’s best athletes along the entire course from start to finish. From the Finish Area one can witness live what is happening on the course from about the middle of the race, for the first half of the course there is a large screen with live television.
