All competitions of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships St. Moritz 2017 took place on the St. Moritz home mountain Corviglia. The spectators were able to watch the world’s top athletes along the entire course from start to finish.
The legendary “free fall” start of the men’s downhill was the absolute highlight: the athletes enter the course directly on a gradient of 100 percent or 45 degrees, accelerating to 140 km/h in 6 seconds. Inspired by the “free fall” and starting from their position, “Britannia”, the women also reach top speeds within seconds. The "Britannia" is also on the slopes of Piz Nair.
As usual in St. Moritz, spectators could watch the world’s best athletes along the entire course from start to finish. From the Finish Area one could witness live what was happening on the course from about the middle of the race, for the first half of the course there was a large screen with live television.
